Point to Point & Steeplechasing
A true rural occasion and highlights the best in amateur horse racing. The race is over hurdles for 3 miles over farmland. These popular meetings are a great day out for all the family. Rose Cottage has two main meetings on its doorstep Holderness at Dalton Holme and Middleton at Whitwell on the Hill both in April.
The famous Kiplingcoates Derby is held only 5 miles away from Rose Cottage and is widely accepted to be the oldest horse race in England. It takes place over a testing four-and-a-half-mile linear course beginning at an old stone post on a grass verge in Etton and finishing with a straight gallop to the winning post on Londesborough Wold. Takes place 3rd Thursday in March.
